Article one of the Constitution defines the legislative branch and vests power to legislate in the Congress of the United States. The legislative branch is Congress and it is divided into two bodies. The House of Representatives and the Senate. The former consist of four hundred thirty five members and the latter has one hundred elected officials.
The Legislative branch does the following:
They write laws.
Make laws controlling trade between states and between the United States and other countries. (House)
Make laws about taxes and borrowing money. (House)
Ambassadors are nominated by the President, with the agreement of the majority of the Senate.
Each member of Congress is an elected official and last for two years. Senate consist of one hundred (100) Senators and the House of Representative has four hundred and thirty five members (435). Representation is equal in the Senate, but changes in the House of Representatives due the increase of population in different states. So, larger populated states have more members of representation while smaller ones have less.
